The City of Lompoc is located in the western portion of Santa Barbara County, on the central coast region of California along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway (California Highway 1) approximately 15 miles west of Highway 101; 55 miles northwest of the City of Santa Barbara; 155 miles northwest of Los Angeles; and, 290 miles south of San Francisco. The City is located in the picturesque Lompoc Valley in proximity to Vandenberg Air Force Base; La Purisima Mission State Historic Park; Allan Hancock Community College and the state of the art Public Safety Training Complex; three area golf courses; a thriving wine industry and gateway to the Santa Rita Hills AVA; a local airport operated by the City; a rich agricultural community; a local hospital district with a range of healthcare facilities; and, a regional indoor aquatic center.
